Tea #2: Life and Death, Infinite Octopi and Spider Physics

December, Week 1

This week I explored the line between the desire to exit the stage of existence and the actual act of doing so. I also shared two self-help tools that can help you find your purpose and live a more successful life.

Click the button below to learn about Ikigai, Fear setting and how to hold on to life even when it seems to be asking too much.

Stuff you should read

  • Imagine an octopus with infinite legs. How terrifying would that be? This one has only 9 but it could very well be the start of octopi world domination

  • Don’t feel bad about failing that test. Intelligent people are the anomaly. As this article in the New York Times Opinion section points out, “your brain is not for thinking”

  • Asia is home not only to long-living people but also long-living businesses. Take a cue from these Japanese institutions on the importance of persistent businesses over profitable ones.

A dash of curiosity

Spider vs Newton

Orb web spiders build asymmetrical webs. The centre or hub of the web is spun at the upper edge where they rest facing downwards in wait for their prey. This allows them to pounce quickly at caught prey because they're falling in the direction of gravity.

And Newton needed an apple to fall on his head.
